Hi, I’m Christine Wysock. Most of you know me in one or two of my “multiple personalities”. You usually see me Sunday mornings dressed in my choir robe as a member of the St. Francis choir. On occasion, when Fr. Tony is away, you may have seen me in my “priestly” clerical garb. But Monday through Friday I am dressed far more comfortably in my scrubs for my role as a registered nurse. I have spent the last twenty years of my nursing career working with the medically underserved populations. The last ten years I have been the nurse manager at Salud Medical Center in Woodburn.
Salud provides medical, dental, WIC, pharmacy, and behavioral health care for a wide variety of people, mostly low income, and medically underserved people. Our population consists of about 75% Spanish, 3-5% Russian and the remaining percentage is a mixed bag of Caucasian, Indian, Asian and any other ethnic group not previously mentioned. We are part of a larger organization, Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic, based in Toppenish Washington.
The generosity of the parishioners of St. Francis has been greatly appreciated by staff and patients of Salud. The gifts of blankets and baby clothing have warmed many an infant who would have otherwise been wrapped in an old towel or castoff shirt. Food that has been donated has meant mealsfor parents who would go without so their children would not go hungry.
It is difficult to imagine the abject poverty that so many people live in amongst the affluence of our country. Every item of food and each article of donated clothing does make a difference to someone.

St Francis supplies Salud with 360 cuddly blankets to be given to children when they come in as patients.
